The books

Where to Ski in France is the second in a new series of single-country ski resort guides from the editors of the annual guide Where to Ski and Snowboard – for 20 years, up to 2016, the British skier’s bible. The first was Where to Ski in Austria, published in October 2017.

The Mail on Sunday said Where to Ski in Austria offers 'all you need to plan the perfect holiday'. Fall-Line magazine said it 'has everything I loved about the old books: quick, at a glance overviews at the beginning of each resort chapter, before going into a detailed analysis. The reviews are unwaveringly fair and accurate, covering everything from size and snow reliability to bars and restaurants.'

Like dear old WTSS, the new books are based on the firm foundations of thorough research, impartial evaluation, reader-friendly layout and engaging, warts-and-all text. The new France book covers in detail all the resorts in France you’re likely to be interested in – about 60 resorts, in more than 30 ski areas. And it includes brief descriptions of many more resorts in a Directory at the back of the book.

Where to Ski books assess what each resort has to offer for everyone, with unprecedented detail on the skiing for beginners, for cautious blue-run skiers and for those wanting to head off-piste (as well as the confident intermediate skiers who make up the core of the market). They include recommended hotels and apartment residences, and restaurants both in the village and on the mountain. And much more …

The books are very easy to use. At the start of each chapter is a clear, no-nonsense summary of the resort, with eleven key star-ratings. And to get you started on your resort shortlist, WTS France provides 15 ready-made ones.

The books are printed in full colour, with a bold, bright design incorporating carefully chosen photos and panoramic mountain maps. They are a handy A5 size; Austria has 192 pages, France 240 pages.
